Accessibility Statement

We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA across this website and all published digital materials. That is a specific, testable standard rather than a general aspiration, which means we can tell you where we currently fall short of it.

Accessibility matters here for a reason beyond compliance. A meaningful proportion of healthcare learners and clinicians have sensory or mobility impairments, and practical medical education should be as accessible and inclusive as possible. Getting this right widens who can train.

This statement was last reviewed in August 2026. The gaps listed in section 4 represent active areas of improvement that we are continuing to address.

What works today

• Full keyboard navigation, with a visible focus indicator on every interactive element and a skip-to-content link as the first tab stop.
• Semantic headings in a logical order on every page, so screen reader users can navigate by structure.
• Text contrast meeting or exceeding 4.5 to 1 for body text and 3 to 1 for large text throughout.
• Colour is never the sole carrier of meaning. Status, availability and validation states all carry a text or icon equivalent.
• Text can be resized to 200% and the layout reflows to 320 pixels wide without horizontal scrolling or loss of content.
• All animation respects the prefers-reduced-motion setting, and no content flashes or auto-plays.
• Form fields have persistent visible labels rather than placeholder-only labels, and errors are announced to assistive technology.
• Every image carries meaningful alternative text, and decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.

Educational materials

• All presentation slides and downloadable handouts are structured to be screen-reader friendly.
• Key documents are available in text-based formats upon request.
• Web forms and interactive elements are designed for straightforward keyboard and screen reader operation.

This is where accessibility in medical education is crucial, and where advance notice helps us most. Inform us during registration or via our contact form so our events team can plan suitable accommodations in advance.

• Main conference and workshop venues are selected for step-free access, accessible amenities, and hearing loops where available.
• Live captioning or transcript summaries can be requested for key sessions.
• Sign language interpretation can be arranged with six weeks advance notice.
• Practical stations can be adapted for height, seated working, and tailored instrument positioning.
• Quiet spaces and multi-faith prayer rooms are provided at multi-day conference venues.
• Dietary requirements are collected during registration and accommodated responsibly.
• Rest breaks and a flexible schedule can be arranged to support personal medical requirements.

Practical limitations

Practical clinical workshops involve physical instruments and simulated clinical scenarios. Where specific physical motions are essential to a procedure, we discuss alternative arrangements in advance, ensuring delegates can participate and learn effectively.

We regularly audit our digital resources and identify areas where accessibility can be improved:

• Some downloadable reference PDFs are being updated to improve full screen-reader tagging and bookmarking.
• Complex medical diagrams and interactive illustrations are being reviewed to expand alternative text descriptions.
• Sign language interpretation requires six weeks advance notice to secure qualified local interpreters for specialized clinical terminology.

• Alternative formats and tailored timing are available for workshop participants upon advance notice.
• No burdensome diagnostic bureaucracy is required for standard accommodations; we take your requests in good faith.
• Workshop facilitators are briefed on requested participant adjustments prior to sessions.
• A certificate of completion or attendance never mentions that an accommodation was made.
